Training Update.

Have you ever had one of those days….
where you just had to put the dog away because you knew that if you didn’t you might wind up making decisions (corrections) out of frustration that you can’t take back?
That was my day today with Ziris… Let’s just say that there was a jogger involved, we were heeling..doing about turns, and things got ugly really fast. Who the hell jogs across an empty soccer field in front of a woman training her doberman? I mean seriously… this guy came out of nowhere.
Rommel on the other hand is doing EXCELLENT with his retrieve training. It has been a slow process, but honestly…Rommel’s part of it, he has learned REALLY fast. When we make progress…we make it fast…it is just a matter of perfecting and proofing that progress. I am really proud of him though. He now holds the dumbell (calmly, without dropping it) brings it to me….and as of yesterday….GO’S AND GETS IT!! (and of course brings it to me!) It sounds so easy, right? Anyway…we are trucking along… So far, I have not introduced the jump or the A-frame, but that is next on my agenda.
We worked Brownie last night in bite work. Our trainers exact words were… “That was f***ing phenomenal!!!” He did great. Little Brown Boy has kahuna’s.
Mystery Man is biting the sleeve now. He is a nice dog, but bitework is very real to him. He loves it, but when he bites…he means it. He has also made it very clear that it doesn’t matter if there is a sleeve involved….. Let’s just say that he is not a dog I will be taking to Petsmart. :) At home though (and with people that he knows), he is a really really sweet boy.
I also tracked him this morning…he did GREAT! His breeder swears that he has never tracked…I am going to have to call her and ask her again, because I SWEAR he knew what he was doing!!!! If not…well then my job is going to be a whole lot easier than I thought!
Oh…and I have a trailer now to haul the mutts around in
It is pretty darn nice too.
